An Ongoing, Erratic Diary

| One of my uncles is having a big shindig at the end of the month, fancy like a formal wedding; while I've spent some time pinning possible cocktail-style dresses for it, I admit, I'm tempted to try to sew one of my own. I wonder if my sewing teacher does tutoring -- even if I pay her for an hour or two of private lessons, and buy the fabric and pattern, I think it would still be less expensive than many of these cocktail dresses, and I could get something unique and hopefully well-tailored to me. On the other hand, I could bung it up completely. Maybe I should just get a dress instead. What do you think? Do you like any of these? I'm 5'0", size 8-10, C-cup, with what I'm calling a 'momma-tummy' these days. In theory, I can wear a strapless bra now, though I still haven't tried actually doing it. Would have to practice some before I'd be confident that it wouldn't just fall off in the middle of the event. I'm really groovin' on the grey these days. (And oh, that first dress with the swans is well out of my price range, and I'm not even sure it would look good on me, but it's so lovely I just like to gaze at it longingly.)
