An Ongoing, Erratic Diary
|31 August 2012, 8:58 AM|
|I'm puttering about with houseguests Sofia Samatar and Chesya Burke, eating the last bits of leftover curry and getting ready to head into #chicon7!
At 10 today, I'll be doing a reading for half an hour -- if you're free and at the con, please stop by, so I'm not reading to the walls. :-) Grand Suite 3. I'll be reading either a new story from The Stars Change, or a chapter from the poly / nationalism memoir; if you come, you get to vote on which!
It's the crazy ChiCon whirl. I promise I will give the to-do rests a break after this weekend. I'm sure you're as sick of them as I am.
10:00 - 10:30 a.m., Grand Suite 3
I'll be reading either from the memoir or the SF erotica book -- if you come, you can help pick.
4:30 - 6:00, Crystal A
George R.R. Martin moderates a panel of Wild Cards authors, discussing the series.
7:30 - 9:00 p.m., Columbus IJ (I'm moderating)
Discussion of non-straight characters and relationships in genre fiction.

Author Mary Anne Mohanraj, who has previously published with HarperCollins and multiple small presses, discusses why she decided to try crowd-sourcing her latest book, and how, last October, she succeeded in raising $8000 in donations in one month, meeting her pledge goal. She'll address why people donated (she took a survey afterwards!) and also talk about the budget breakdown for that book, a collection of erotic SF stories, _The Stars Change_.
I believe this will be 4 - 6 p.m.
6:00 - 7:30 p.m., Gold Coast (I'm moderating)
Where can you find books written by minority writers? How about books with minority lead characters? Our panelists discuss the evolution and current landscape of minorities as characters and recommend books by and about minority sexualities, races, genders, and ethnicities.
10:30 - 12:00, Grand Suite 3
No description, but I assume we'll talk about Clarion?
4:30 - 6:00 p.m., McCormick (I'm moderating)
