Little Cottonwood Canyon
Late August. Roshani and Tom were visiting from Chicago, and we'd
borrowed Prakash (and Kevin's car), to drive up to the Salt Lake City
canyons. We drove up towards the Alta ski area, and turned into the White
Pines campground, in Little Cottonwood Canyon. It started to rain as we
stepped out of the car, and we huddled for a little while under a big
tree. Eventually, the rain eased up, and we crossed a log bridge and
started heading up. At first glance, the forest seemed much like any
other forest. I'm not all that up on botany-- trees, rocks and a little
stream could fit in pretty much anywhere as far as I could tell.
